Spoils of War is an English-language print and digital nonprofit fanzine for Ares from Supergiant's Hades. This zine is a collection focusing on all things about our favourite god of war! The zine will be SFW with an optional NSFW digital companion, and every SFW bundle will also have podfics of the contained written works.
We have an anti-hate and anti-discrimination policy with everything relating to our zine. That means that we will tolerate no forms of racism, sexism, ableism, fat- or queerphobia here, and the same goes for any other type of discrimination. This zine is not a place of discourse! We also understand that colorism and whitewashing is an issue within fandom communities — we are therefore are making every effort to combat this. We've brought on sensitivity monitors and will actively follow the advice given.Our Donation Recipient
We are delighted to announce that overall, we've raised and donated $3236.84 for the Mines Advisory Group. MAG works all over the planet to ensure civilian safety in conflict and post-conflict areas, utilising both extensive field work and political advocacy. They're committed to accountability and transparency regarding their work, and have worked together with organisations such as the UN or Human Rights Watch.Why has your shipping date changed?
Due to global paper shortages, we still haven't received the zine's final printing proof. Since shipping services tend to be very unreliable during the Christmas period, we have therefore made the difficult decision to postpone shipping until January 2022. If you ordered a copy and would like to change your adress, please get in touch with us by January 1st, 2022!

Our fundraiser has now ended! From August 1st-21st, we ran a donation-driven storyline event, where we jumped back in time to the Trojan War. Everyone's donations (going 100% to our charity) influenced the outcome of the story, and you can check this thread out to see how it all turned out!What is this zine's stance on ships? What content can I expect?
Our stance is that all ships that involve Ares will be accepted. We hope to have an even spread of content, including solo-Ares content, romantic relationships, and platonic relationships. As we mentioned above, explicitly sexual relationships will be included in the NSFW digital companion. Neither zine contains non-con or dub-con content.
A list of ships in the zine can be found here — keep in mind that with Ares' domain (as well as the general content of Hades), topics of violence, death, and war will be frequently explored in this zine.Interest Check Results
Our interest check has now closed! We have received around 200 responses, and will take its results into consideration when planning and formatting the zine! You can see a rundown of the main results here (keep in mind that some results may now be outdated).

Quill is a Jewish college student who has recently rediscovered his love for ancient history. The idea for the zine originated with him. Due to the pandemic and global supply chain issues, we have unfortunately faced delays that were beyond our control. However, all items from the pre-order phase have been sent out by now!What is a zine, anyway?
A zine, or fanzine, is a collection of works for and by a particular community. Supergiant has confirmed through their Twitter that they allow this for their works, so long as it stays non-profit.Is this SFW? Should I be looking at this if I'm under eighteen?
Everybody will be able to explore and enjoy the main SFW zine! However, purchase of the NSFW digital companion will be limited to those over the age of eighteen.What content will be in the zine?
Spoils of War hosts artwork, merchandise, and writing from the Ares-loving Hades community! All work is centred on canon-verse depictions of Ares, including pre-canon, post-canon, and canon-divergent settings.
In addition to that, Spoils of War also contains an exclusive interview with none other than the voice behind Ares himself — Cyrus Nemati! Further staying on the theme of audio, we're offering podfics to the zine's SFW fics as a stretch goal.

Spoils of War is an unofficial fanzine and not affiliated with Supergiant Games. With that said, we're very thankful for all the wonderful support SGG has shown to the fan community in general, zines included, and like Supergiant, we have established an anti-crunch policy to make sure all our contributors can work in sustainable and healthy conditions!What will the zine look like?
Only the SFW zine will be released physically, and this will be a limited-edition run in compliance with Supergiant's merch policy. The physical zine will be perfect-bound, 7x10 inches (or 18x25 cm). Physical merch will also be released — we're offering bookmarks, buttons, prints, charms, and stickers! Physical stretch goals are washi tape (after 50 physical orders — UNLOCKED), and an enamel pin (after 150 physical orders — UNLOCKED).
You're also able to buy a digital version of the SFW zine and/or (if you're over 18) the NSFW zine, as well as our digital merch. This will come in the form of icons, and emotes! An additional digital stretch goal is the production of podfics for our SFW zine, which has now been reached and will be added to your purchase for free.
